CISAR’s researchers participated at the international conference “Crisis Governance – Dealing with Floods in the Balkans: Cases of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia” organized by RRPP, 14-16 December in Belgrade, Serbia. The results of research paper titled “Pro-social behaviour of individuals during the 2014 flood period in Bosnia and Herzegovina: the role of economic and social capital” imply that both economic and social capital determinants are important predictors of pro-social activity in the flood period: better economic performance of individuals (higher income and more wealth) along with higher level of social capital (membership in formal groups, larger and ethnically more diverse networks) warrant more engagement of individuals in the flood crisis. After interacting the economic and social capital influences, the results suggest that their joint outcomes also build up, and if combined, the cumulative effects increase probability of this engagement further.
