On 12th February 2016, CISAR hosted the international workshop “Social capital, migration and entrepreneurship – evidence from a post-conflict environment”, in Hotel Grand in Sarajevo. The event was organised with the support by the Regional Research Promotion Programme (RRPP) Western Balkans and is part of its ongoing research project.
CISAR researchers from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Serbia presented their initial findings obtained through empirical quantitative and qualitative analysis based on survey data implemented in BiH and interviews from BiH, Croatia and Serbia. The results confirmed that social capital is an important factor for everyday activities of ordinary people, migrants and entrepreneurs in SEE region.
The participants included representatives from RRPP Local Coordination Unit BiH, Institutional mentor from Aston University UK, Keynote speaker from RMIT University Melbourne, researchers from the region (Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia) a discussant from University of Zurich, as well as other colleagues from BiH. The outcomes and the valuable academic exchange of this workshop will be used to strengthening the next research stage of the project.
